Introduction

Kya aap jante hain ke hamari kamayi hamari aakhirat kaise badal sakti hai? Aaj ke dour mein jahan sood ko kamyabi ka zariya samjha jata hai, wahan Quran hamein batata hai ke asal "Barakah" sirf halal rizq mein hai. Is post mein hum in ayaton ki tafseer ko asaan alfaz mein samjhenge taake hum jaan sakein ke sood se bachna kyun zaroori hai aur kaise hum apni kamayi ko Allah ke hukum ke mutabiq paak kar sakte hain.

Are you aware of the spiritual war being fought in our daily earnings? In the powerful verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (275-281), Allah (SWT) draws a clear line between the destruction of Riba (Interest) and the immense Barakah of Halal Business. While the modern world often views interest as a shortcut to wealth, the Quran reveals a different reality—one where Riba leads to spiritual bankruptcy and Halal trade leads to true prosperity. In this post, we dive deep into the meaning of these verses to understand how we can purify our wealth and seek Allah’s pleasure in our financial lives.

Ayat 275

Wo jo sood khate hain qayamat ke din na kharray hon gay magar jaise kharra hota hai wo jisay aaseeb ne choo kar makhboot bana diya ho, yeh is liye ke unhon ne kaha bai (tijarat) bhi to sood hi ke manind hai, aur Allah ne halal kiya bai aur haram kiya sood. To jisay us ke rab ke paas se nasihat aayi aur wo baaz raha to usay halal hai jo pehle le chuka aur us ka kaam khuda ke supard hai, aur jo ab aisi harkat kare ga to wo dozakhi hai wo us mein muddaton rahein gay.

"Those who consume interest will not stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, 'Trade is [just] like interest.' But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest. So whoever has received an admonition from his Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah. But whoever returns to [dealing in interest or usury] - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein."

Ayat 276

Allah halak karta hai sood ko aur barhata hai khairat ko, aur Allah ko pasand nahi aata koi nashukra bara gunahgar.

Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities. And Allah does not like every sinning disbeliever.

Ayat 277

Beshak wo jo iman laye aur ache kaam kiye aur namaz qaim ki aur zakat di, unka naig (ajar) unke rab ke paas hai, aur na unhein kuch andesha ho, na kuch gham.

Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Ayat 278

Aey eman walo Allah se daro aur chor do jo baqi reh gaya hai sood agar tum momin ho.

O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers.

Ayat 279

And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger.

Ayat 280

Aur agar qarz-daar tangi wala hai to usay mohlat do aasani tak, aur qarz us par bilkul chor dena tumhare liye aur bhala hai agar jano.

And if the debtor is in difficulty, then let there be postponement until [a time of] ease. And if you give [it as] charity, then it is better for you, if you only knew.

Ayat 281

Aur daro us din se jis mein Allah ki taraf phiro gay, aur har jaan ko us ki kamayi poori bhar di jaye gi aur un par zulm na hoga.

And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be wronged.

Guzashta aayat mein maal kharch karke ridae-ilahi aur jannat kamane walon ka bayan tha, ab isi maal ke zariye Allah Ta'ala ka ghazab aur jahannum kamane walon ka bayan hai, chunanche in logon ke ek bade tabqe yani sood khoron ka bayan aur anjam is aayat mein bayan kiya gaya hai.

Sood Ko Haram Kiye Jane Ki Hikmatein:

Sood ko haram farmane mein bohat si hikmatein hain, in mein se baaz ye hain:

Sood mein jo ziadati li jati hai wo mali muawze wali cheezon mein baghair kisi iwaz ke maal liya jata hai aur ye sareeh nainsafi hai.

Sood khor qayamat mein aise makhbut-ul-hawas honge aur aise girte padte khade honge, jaise dunya mein wo shakhs jis par bhoot sawar ho kyunke sood khor dunya mein logon ke liye bhoot bana hua tha. Aaj kal soodi qarz lene dene ka ibtidai andaz to bada muhazzab hota hai, acche acche naamon se aur khush-kun targhibat se diya jata hai lekin kuch hi arse baad qarz dene walon ki khush-akhlaqi, milansari aur chehre ki muskurahat sab rukhsat hojati hai aur asal chehra benaqab hojata hai jo galiyan de raha hota hai, ghunday bhej raha hota hai, ghar ke bahar khade ho kar zaleel o ruswa kar raha hota hai, dukan, makan, factory sab par qabza karke faqeer o kangal aur muhtaj o qallash karke be-ghar aur be-zar kar raha hota hai.

Innamal Bai’u Mislu-Riba: Tijarat Sood Hi Ki Tarah Hai

Yahan sood khoron ka wo shubha bayan kiya ja raha hai jo zamana-e-Islam se pehle se lekar aaj tak chala aa raha hai. Wo ye ke tijarat aur sood mein kya farq hai? Dono ek jaise to hain. Tijarat mein koi saman de kar nafa hasil kiya jata hai aur sood mein raqam de kar nafa hasil kiya jata hai halanke dono mein zameen o asman ka farq hai.

Ghaur karein ke:

Tijarat karne se husn-e-sulook mein farq nahi aata, aadmi sust, kahil aur mushaqqat se ji churane wala nahi banta, apne maal ko khatre par pesh karta hai, nafa o nuqsan dono ki umeed hoti hai, wo doosre ki barbadi o muhtaji ka arzumand nahi hota.

Jabke sood wala be-reham hojata hai, wo muft mein kisi ko raqam dene ka tasawwur nahi karta, insani humdardi us se rukhsat hojati hai, qarz lene wala doobe, mare, tabah ho ye bahar-soorat usay nichodne par tula rehta hai.

Isliye Allah Ta'ala ne farmaya ke Allah ne tijarat ko halal kiya hai aur sood ko haram kiya hai.

Fa-antaha: To Jo Ruk Gaya

Chunke sood ka len den ek arse se chalta aa raha tha to farmaya gaya ke jab hukm-e-ilahi nazil ho gaya to ab is par amal karte hue jo ayanda sood lene se baaz aa gaya to hurmat ka hukm nazil hone se pehle jo wo leta raha us par us ki koi giraft na hogi aur us ki mafi ka muamla balkeh har amr o nahi ka muamla Allah Ta'ala ke hawale hai. Aur ye bhi yaad rakho ke jo hurmat ka hukm utarne ke baad bhi sood khaye ga to wo jahannum ka mustahiq hai aur agar halal samajh kar khaya to kafir hai, hamesha jahannum mein rahe ga kyunke kisi bhi haram-e-qati ko halal janne wala kafir hai.

Allah Ta'ala sood ko mitata hai jabke sadqa o khairat ko zyada karta hai, dunya mein is mein barkat paida farmata hai aur aakhirat mein is ka ajr o sawab badhata hai.

Sahih Bukhari mein Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, Huzoor Aqdas (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya: Jo shakhs khajoor barabar halal kamayi se sadqa kare aur Allah halal hi ko qubool farmata hai to Allah Ta'ala us sadqe ko qubool farmata hai phir usay us ke malik ke liye parwarish karta hai jaise tum mein koi apne bicchde ki tarbiyat karta hai yahan tak ke wo sadqa pahad ke barabar ho jata hai.

Is aayat mein iman wale keh kar mukhatab kiya aur iman ke ek ahem taqaze yani taqwa ka hukm diya phir taqwa ki rooh yani haram se bachne ka farmaya aur haram se bachne mein ek kabeera gunah sood ka tazkira kiya. Chunanche farmaya gaya ke agar sood ke haram hone se pehle maqrooz par sood lazim ho gaya tha aur ab tak kuch sood le liya tha aur kuch baqi tha ke ye sood ke haram hone ka hukm aa gaya to jo sood us se pehle liya tha wo wapas na kiya jaye ga lekin ayanda baqaya sood na liya jaye ga.

Shan-e-Nuzool:

Ye aayat un ashaab ke haqq mein nazil hui jo sood ki hurmat nazil hone se qabl soodi len den karte thay aur un ki kafi bhari soodi raqmein doosron ke zimma baqi thein, is mein hukm diya gaya ke sood ki hurmat nazil hone ke baad sabqa baqiya sood lene ki bhi ijazat nahi.

To Allah Aur Allah Ke Rasool Ki Taraf Se Ladayi Ka Yaqeen Karlo:

Sood ki hurmat ka hukm nazil hochuka, iske baad bhi jo soodi len den jari rakkhe ga wo Allah Ta'ala aur us ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se jung ka yaqeen karle. Ye shadeed tareen waid hai. Chunanche jin ashaab ka soodi muamla tha unhon ne apne soodi mutalbat chorr diye aur arz kiya ke Allah Ta'ala aur us ke Rasool se ladayi ki humein kya taab, ye keh kar wo taib hogaye.

Lekin aaj kal ke naam-nihad Musalman danishwaro ka haal ye hai ke wo tauba ki bajaye aage se khud Allah Ta'ala ko elan-e-jung kar rahe hain aur sood ki ahamiyat o zaroorat par kitabein, article, mazameen aur column likh kar waraq siyah kar rahe hain.

Do Gunahon Par Elan-e-Jung Diya Gaya:

Sood lene par jaisa ke yahan aayat mein bayan hua.

Allah Ta'ala ke wali se adawat rakhne par, jaisa ke Bukhari Sharif mein Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) se marwi hai, Tajdar-e-Risalat (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: Allah Ta'ala irshad farmata hai "Jo mere kisi wali se adawat rakkhe to maine us se jung ka elan kardiya".

Wa In Tubtum: Aur Agar Tum Tauba Karo

Irshad farmaya ke agar tum tauba karo to jo tumhara asal diya hua qarz hai wo lena tumhare liye jaiz hai aur us ka mutalba kar sakte ho. Is se maloom hua ke sood haram hone se pehle jo sood liya gaya wo halal tha, wo raqam asal-e-qarz se na katte gi balkeh ab poora qarz lena jaiz hoga.

La Tazlimuna Wa La Tuzlamun: Na Tum Kisi Ko Nuqsan Pahunchao Aur Na Tumhein Nuqsan Ho

Zulm Ko Khatam Karne Ki Koshish Ki Jaye:

Qarz Ki Adayigi Ke Liye Dua:

Hazrat Ali-ul-Murtaza (Karramallahu Wajh-ul-Kareem) se riwayat hai ke aap ke pas ek mukatib ghulam aaya aur arz ki main apni kitabat (ka maal) ada karne se aajiz aa gaya hoon, meri kuch madad farmaiye. Aap ne farmaya kya main tujhe wo kalme na sikha doon jo mujhe Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne sikhaye thay: "Allahummak-finee bi-halalika 'an haramika wa-aghninee bi-fadlika 'amman siwaka". (Yani: Aye Allah! Mujhe apne halal ke zariye apne haram se tu kafi hoja, aur mujhe apni meherbani se apne siwa se be-parwah karde).

Is aayat mein qayamat ke din se daraya ja raha hai ke us din se daro jis mein tumhein Allah Ta'ala ki taraf lautaya jaye ga aur us din logon ko un ke a'mal ka poora poora badla diya jaye ga.

Tafsir of Surah Al-Baqarah (Verses 275–281)

The Consequences of Interest (Riba)

While previous verses described those who earn Allah’s pleasure and Paradise by spending their wealth rightfully, these verses discuss those who earn Allah’s wrath and Hellfire through their wealth. This specifically highlights a large group of people: those who deal in interest (Sood) and their ultimate fate.

The Wisdom Behind the Prohibition of Interest

There are many reasons why Allah has forbidden interest:

Injustice: The extra amount taken in interest is wealth taken without any equivalent exchange, which is clear injustice.

Destruction of Trade: Interest discourages hard work. A person finds it easier to gain wealth without effort through interest than facing the risks and hard work of trade, which ultimately harms human society.

End of Mutual Love: It destroys the spirit of helping others. When a person becomes addicted to interest, they no longer wish to help others through Qarz-e-Hasana (interest-free loans).

Cruelty: Interest breeds a level of ruthlessness in human nature that is worse than that of wild beasts. The moneylender constantly wishes for the destruction and ruin of the debtor.

The Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who gives interest, the one who takes it, the one who prepares its documents, and its witnesses, stating they are all equal in sin.

The State of Interest-Eaters on Judgment Day

On the Day of Resurrection, those who dealt in interest will rise like a person possessed by a demon. This is because, in this world, they acted like demons towards others. While modern interest-based loans are often presented with sophisticated names and attractive offers, the "smile" of the lender soon disappears, revealing a face that uses threats and force to seize shops, homes, and factories, leaving the debtor destitute.

Trade vs. Interest: The Confusion

A common misconception discussed here is the claim that "trade is just like interest". Both involve gaining profit, but there is a massive difference:

Trade: Does not harm moral conduct. The person is not lazy, puts their capital at risk, and hopes for both profit and loss without wishing for the other's ruin.

Interest: Makes a person ruthless. The concept of helping others vanishes, and the lender is determined to squeeze the debtor regardless of their suffering or destruction.

Thus, Allah has made trade Halal (permissible) and interest Haram (forbidden).

Repentance and Forgiveness

Since interest-based dealings had been going on for a long time, Allah decreed that whoever stops after receiving this command will not be seized for what they took before the prohibition. Their matter of forgiveness is with Allah. However, anyone who returns to interest after this command is deserving of Hell.

Barakah in Charity vs. Destruction in Interest

Allah destroys interest and deprives the interest-eater of blessings (Barakah). In contrast, He increases charity (Sadaqah) and grants growth in this world and immense rewards in the hereafter. Even a small charity given from Halal earnings is nurtured by Allah until it becomes as large as a mountain.

A Declaration of War

Whoever continues to deal in interest after the prohibition should be certain of a declaration of war from Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. This is a severe warning. When this verse was revealed, the companions who had interest-based dealings immediately repented and gave up their claims to interest.

Principles of Repentance and Justice

Principal Amount: If you repent, you are entitled only to your original principal amount.

Justice: "Do not wrong others, and you will not be wronged". You should not take extra from the debtor, nor should you be deprived of your original capital.

Eliminating Oppression: Sharia and logic demand that one should neither oppress nor tolerate oppression.

A Prayer (Dua) for the Payment of Debt

Hazrat Ali (R.A) shared a prayer taught by the Prophet ﷺ that helps in the repayment of debts, even if they are as large as a mountain:

"Allahummak-finee bi-halalika 'an haramika wa-aghninee bi-fadlika 'amman siwaka"

(O Allah! Suffice me with Your Halal against Your Haram, and make me independent of all besides You through Your grace).

The Final Verse

Verse 281 warns of the Day when everyone will be returned to Allah and given the full reward for their deeds without any injustice. Some scholars believe this was the very last verse of the Quran to be revealed to the Prophet ﷺ.

Key Points

Sood Ki Tabah-Kariyan Aur Halal Rizq Ki Barkat

Sood (Riba) Ki Sakht Hurmat

Quran-e-Pak mein sood khane walon ke liye sakht waid sunayi gayi hai aur ise Allah aur Uske Rasool ﷺ ke khilaf elan-e-jung qarar diya gaya hai. Dekha jaye agar ke sood kitna bada gunnah hai jis ka azab ye hai ke jo insan sood leta hai wo Allah aur Is ke Mehboob ﷺ se jung karta hai. Jo log ye kaam karte hain wo zara is ko sochein to ke wo kar kya rahe hain, wo Allah aur is ke Mehboob ﷺ se lar rahe hain. Ab aap khud sochein ke Allah ki zaat itni buland hai aur shano wali hai jis ko lafzo mein bayan hi nahi kiya ja sakta, jo har cheez par Qadir hai, aur is tarah us ke Mehboob ﷺ ki shan bhi sab se afzal aur nirali hai. To ab aap dekh lein aisi zaat aur hasti se larne wala kabhi jeet sakta hai bhala? Nahi na! Jo log ye hi kaam karte hain wo bas apni duniya aur akhirat ko tabah aur barbad kar rahe hain.

Tijarat Aur Sood Mein Farq

Log aksar samajhte hain ke tijarat aur sood ek jaise hain, magar tijarat mein mehnat aur nafa-nuqsan ka khatra hota hai, jabke sood baghair mehnat ke doosron ka istehsal (exploitation) hai. Dekha hum insano ko aadat hai pehle gunnah karte hain phir jab wo gunnah dil mein ehsas dilata hai—kyunke Nabi Kareem ﷺ ki hadees hai: "Gunnah wo hai jo dil mein khatke"—ab jab wo khatakta hai to bajaye maafi mangne aur us kaam ko chorne ki koshish karne ke, hum khud ko satisfied karne ke liye us ka naam hi badal dete hain.

Dekha jaye to sood aur tijarat mein waziya farq hai, phir bhi dono ko ek jaisa kaha ja raha hai, kya hamare mein aqal nahi ke hum sahi aur galat ki tameez kar sakein? Dekhein tijarat mein mehnat lagti hai, dusron ko faida hota hai aur kafi logo ki rozi ban jati hai, lekin sood to aisi cheez hai jo logo ki zameenein bikwa deta hai. Ab khud dekhein kisi ka bilawaja nuqsan ho, takleef ho, ye sahi kaam hai kya? Agar kisi ne majburi mein qarza le hi liya to apni raqam le wapis, us par paisa lene ka kya kaam hai? Dekha jaye to koi shauq se nahi leta qarza, majburi mein hi leta hai, aur agar koi shauq se le bhi raha hai to ye us ka Allah ka mamla hai, aap ka koi haq nahi banta ke aap us sa upar paisa lein ya sood lein. Dekha jaye to sood lena dena yahan tak ke jo is kabira gunnah ko gunnah nahi manega, halal kahega, wo kafir hai phir. Aur sood lene aur dene ka jo gawah banega wo bhi gunnah-gar hai, yahan tak ke jo is ke papers tak banayega wo bhi gunnah-gar hai. Ab aap is gunnah ki seriousness ko samajh lein.

Barakah vs Tabahi

Allah Ta'ala sood se milne wali raqam se barkat ko khatam kar deta hai, jabke sadqa aur khairat karne se maal mein izafa aur barkat paida hoti hai. Dekha jaye ek baat yaad rakhein zindagi mein, pehle to ye duniya fani hai, hamesha ke liye koi nahi aaya, sab ne chale jana hai aur sab kuch chala jana hai, kuch nahi bachega. Pehle ke logo ki to phir bhi kuch 100-150 saal ki zindagi hoti thi, ab to 40-50 aur zyada se zyada 70-80 se upar age hai hi nahi, yani ab to zindagi aur mukhtasir ho gayi hai. To mujhe samajh nahi aata ke phir kis liye hum itna maal jorr rahe hain? Hum ne qabar mein to lekar nahi jana. Hum itne maal ki mohabbat mein andhe ho gaye hain ke hum sood le rahe hain aur Allah aur is ke Mehboob ﷺ se lar rahe hain, matlab hamare mein se insaniyat khatam ho gayi hai.

Lekin ek baat yaad rakhein ke aap haram ke zariye jitna marzi jorr lein ya bana lein, kabhi nahi banega kyunke us mein barkat nahi hogi. Jis mein barkat na ho wo maal kabhi ban sakta hai? Nahi na! Kyunke jis kaam ya maal mein Allah aur is ke Mehboob ﷺ ki raza na ho, us kaam ya maal mein kabhi barkat ya kamyabi nahi milegi. Aap jorrte rahein jitna jorrna hai, agar kuch ban jaye to phir kehna. Aur doosri taraf jo halal kamata hai, aap dekhein un ka mahal bana hua hai, Allah ne itni barkat di hai, itni kamyabi di hai ke soch hai. Aur ek baat maine apni life mein bhi notice ki hai ke jo maal imandari, mehnat aur dusron ki asani kar ke kamaya jaye, us mein itna maza aur barkat aur sukoon hota hai jis ke bare mein hum soch bhi nahi sakte. Dekha jaye to maal kam ya zyada hona zaroori nahi, bas maal barkat wala hona chahiye.

Qayamat Ka Anjam

Sood khane wale qayamat ke din us shakhs ki tarah khade honge jis par bhoot sawar ho ya jise shaitan ne chu kar makhbut-ul-hawas (senseless) bana diya ho. Dekha jo Allah aur is ke Mehboob ﷺ se larega, wo apne bhayanak anjam ke liye bhi tayyar ho jaye kyunke jab Allah ne itni sakht waid utari hai to sood lene aur dene wale ka anjam kya hoga zara tasawwur karein, rooh kanp jaye gi. To is liye meharbani karein aur khud par reham khayein. Allah hamesha hidayat dena chahta hai is liye us ne itni sakht waid utari hai ke log is ghaliz kaam se hamesha door rahein, to is liye abhi waqt hai hidayat le lein.

Tauba Ki Ijazat

Allah ne farmaya hai ke jo log hurmat ka hukm aane ke baad baaz aa jayenge, unka pichla muamla Allah ke hawale hai, magar jo dobara sood ki taraf jayenge wo hamesha jahannum mein rahenge. Dekha Allah to bada maaf karne wala hai aur wo to chahta hai main apne bando ko har waqt maaf karu lekin hum insane bhi to sudhre na. To dekha jin logo ko sood ka gunnah hone ka nahi pata tha—waise to ye possible nahi hai lekin phir bhi agar ab pata lag gaya hai—to foran Allah aur is ke Mehboob ﷺ se maafi mangi jaye, is kaam ko foran chora jaye aur dobara na karne ka ahad kiya jaye. Pehla jo gunnah us ne kiya Allah maaf farma de ga, bas dobara kabhi ye ghaliz kaam na kiya jaye.

Insani Humdardi

Sood insan ko be-reham aur sangdil bana deta hai, jabke Islamic finance ka nizam humdardi aur ek doosre ki madad par mabni hai. Ab jis ke dil mein Allah aur is ke Mehboob ﷺ hi nahi wo insan hi nahi hai phir, wo to sangdil aur be-reham banega hi. Aur jab wo sood khor ke sath sath sangdil banega to zulm karega aur naye tareeqon se logo ko nuqsan pahunchayega, to wo kya insan rahega? Wo to janwar ban jayega. Hadees-e-Mubaraka hai: "Jo logo par reham nahi karta us par reham nahi kiya jata". To dekha is tarah ek gunnah se 100 gunnah ka rasta khulta hai. Jo logo ke liye asaniya karta hai Allah us ki duniya aur akhirat dono ko asan kar deta hai.

Qarz Ki Adayigi Ki Dua

Hazrat Ali (R.A) ne qarz se nijat ke liye ek makhsoos dua sikhayi hai jo mushkil waqt mein Allah ki madad hasil karne ka behtareen zariya hai. Duayon se taqdeer badal jati hai, to koi bhi shakhs agar kisi bhi mushkil ya pareshani ya qarz mein dooba hai to dua kare Allah se madad mange, Allah behtareen madad karne wala hai.

Qarz Se Nijat Ki Dua

"Aye Allah! Mujhe apne halal ke zariye apne haram se kafi ho ja, aur mujhe apne fazl se apne siwa har kisi se be-niyaz kar de."

Wazifa Parhne Ka Tareeqa

Agar qarz ka bojh zyada ho to har namaz ke baad ek tasbeeh (100 martaba) parhein. Shuru aur akhir mein Durood-e-Pak lazmi parhein. Lekin agar qarz kam ho, to subah aur shaam ek tasbeeh parhein aur har namaz ke baad 11 martaba parhne ka mamool banayein.

Key Points

The Destruction of Interest and the Blessings of Halal Rizq

The Severe Prohibition of Interest (Riba)

The Holy Quran issues a stern warning to those who consume interest, declaring it a state of war against Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Consider the magnitude of this sin: a person who deals in interest is essentially going to war with Allah and His Beloved ﷺ. Those involved in this must pause and reflect: who are they fighting? Allah’s majesty is beyond words; He is All-Powerful, and the status of His Beloved ﷺ is the most exalted. Can anyone ever hope to win a war against such Divine Power? Truly, those who engage in this are merely destroying their own world and the Hereafter.

The Difference Between Trade and Interest

People often mistake trade and interest for being the same. However, trade involves hard work, effort, and the risk of both profit and loss. In contrast, interest is the exploitation of others without any labor. We humans have a habit: we commit a sin, and when our conscience pricks us—as the Prophet ﷺ said, "Sin is that which wavers in your heart"—instead of seeking forgiveness and quitting, we try to satisfy ourselves by simply changing its name.
There is a clear distinction between the two, yet some insist they are identical. Have we lost the wisdom to distinguish right from wrong? Trade requires effort, benefits others, and creates livelihoods for many. Interest, however, is a curse that forces people to sell their lands and belongings. Is it right for someone to suffer unnecessary loss and pain? If someone takes a loan out of necessity, return the principal—what right do you have to demand extra money? Dealing in interest is such a major sin that if someone refuses to acknowledge it as Haram and calls it Halal like trade, they risk losing their faith. From the one who takes it to the one who gives it, the witnesses, and even the ones who prepare the documents—all are mired in sin. Understand the seriousness of this matter.

Blessings (Barakah) vs. Destruction

Allah Ta'ala strips away the blessings from wealth earned through interest, whereas charity (Sadaqah) and spending in His way increase and bless one's wealth. Remember, this life is temporary. No one stays forever; everything we accumulate will be left behind. While people in the past lived for over a century, today’s lifespan is barely 40 to 80 years. Life has become shorter, yet we are blinded by the greed to accumulate wealth that we cannot take to the grave. By dealing in interest, we lose our humanity and choose to fight Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

No matter how much you amass through Haram means, it will never truly "grow" because it lacks Barakah. Wealth without Allah’s pleasure can never bring success. You may keep piling it up, but you will find no peace. On the other hand, look at those who earn Halal—Allah grants them such success and abundance that it is beyond imagination. I have noticed in my own life that wealth earned through honesty and by making things easy for others carries a unique sweetness and tranquility. It is not about how much or how little you have; it is about the blessings within it.

The Fate on the Day of Judgment

On the Day of Resurrection, those who consumed interest will rise like someone possessed or driven senseless by the touch of Satan. Those who fight Allah and His Messenger ﷺ should prepare for a terrifying end. When Allah sends such a severe warning, imagine the horror of the punishment; it is enough to make the soul tremble. For the sake of your own soul, have mercy on yourself. Allah always desires guidance for us, which is why He issued this warning to keep us away from this filthy practice. There is still time to seek guidance.

Permission for Repentance (Tawbah)

Allah is Most Merciful and always wishes to forgive His servants, but we must choose to change. For those who were unaware of the gravity of this sin—though that is rare—the moment you realize it, you must immediately seek forgiveness from Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Quit the practice instantly and vow never to return to it. Allah will forgive what happened in the past, provided this foul deed is never repeated.

Human Compassion

Interest makes a person cold-hearted and ruthless, whereas the Islamic financial system is built on compassion and mutual aid. A person whose heart lacks love and respect for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ is the one who dares to deal in interest. Without that Divine connection, a person becomes stone-hearted, oppressing others and finding new ways to harm them. What humanity is left in such a person? They become like animals. The Hadith states: "He who is not merciful to others will not be shown mercy." One sin opens the door to a hundred more. Avoid this filth. Work hard, spend in the path of Allah, and have a sincere intention to show mercy to people. Allah makes the life and Hereafter easy for those who create ease for others.

The Prayer (Dua) for Debt Repayment

Hazrat Ali (R.A) shared a specific prayer to seek relief from debt, which is a powerful means of seeking Allah's help in difficult times. Prayers can change destiny. If anyone is drowning in debt or distress, pray and seek help from Allah, for He is the Best Helper.

Prayer for Relief from Debt

"O Allah! Suffice me with Your Halal against Your Haram, and make me independent of all besides You through Your grace."

 (Method of Recitation)

If the burden of debt is heavy, recite one Tasbeeh (100 times) after every prayer, ensuring you recite Durood-e-Pak at the beginning and the end. If the debt is relatively small, recite one Tasbeeh in the morning and evening, and recite it 11 times after every obligatory prayer.

Dill ki Baat

Zindagi Ke Do Raste

Zindagi bohot chhoti hai aur raste do hi hain: Ek wo jo humein thori der ki "zahiri" asani deta hai magar sukoon chheen leta hai, aur dusra wo jo shuru mein mushkil lagta hai magar us ka anjam hamesha-hamesha ki kamyabi hai.

Rizq Ka Wada Aur Imaan Ka Imtihan

Hum aksar maal jorne ki daur mein ye bhool jate hain ke jis Allah ne humein paida kiya hai, rizq ka wada bhi usi ka hai. Sood (Interest) sirf paison ka len-den nahi, balki ye hamari insaniyat, hamari hamdardi aur hamare imaan ka imtihan hai. Jab hum sood ke raste par chalte hain, to hum sirf apna bank balance nahi barhate, balki us Rab-e-Kareem aur Uske Pyare Rasool ﷺ se elan-e-jung karte hain jisne humein sab kuch ata kiya.

Khaliq Se Jung Mumkin Nahi

Sochein zara! Kya koi tinka us samandar se lar sakta hai? Kya koi makhlooq us Khaliq ko hara sakti hai? Hargiz nahi.

Majboori Ka Faida Aur Qarz Ka Rasta

Yahan main ek aur baat ye bhi karna chahti hoon ke zyada tar sood qarz par liya jata hai, yani qarz lene gaye log sood lete hain aur kisi ki majburi ka faida uthaya jata hai jo aur gunah ka kaam hai. Lekin yahan main un se ek baat kehna chahoon gi jo qarz lene jate hain: Dekhein pehle to qarz na lein to zyada behtar hai, lekin koi aisi majburi ya pareshani aa gayi hai to logo ke paas kyun jana?

Asal Madadgar Sirf Allah Ki Zaat

Sab se pehle bas apne Rab ko yaad karein, Uske Mehboob ﷺ ko yaad karein aur un se madad aur sath mangyein. Dekhein Allah aur Is ke Mehboob ﷺ jaisa sath aur madad koi nahi kar sakta. Jab Allah ne khud farma diya Quran mein ke "Mujh se mango main doon ga" to phir kyun idhar udhar logo ke paas jate hain? Arey bhai! Hamare paas to hamara Allah aur Is ke Mehboob ﷺ hain phir hum kyun ghabrayein? Bas jab koi mushkil, pareshani ya zaroorat ho, janamaz bichayein, sajda mein jayein aur ro ro kar Allah se dua mangein, phir dekhein kaisi madad aati hai.

Sood Khoron Se Doori Aur Isteqamat

Waise to jab niyat achi ho to aisa waqt aata hi nahi, aur agar aa jaye to wo hi azmaish hai na. Allah waqti saare darwaza band karta hai, wo dekhta hai ke Mera banda kya karta hai, kitni koshish karta hai, galat rasta par chalta hai ya seedha rasta par.

Himmat, Hidayat Aur Akhirat Ka Dar

To dekhein, mushkil jo bhi ho Allah sath kabhi nahi chorta aur na wo insan ki himmat se zyada mushkil dalta hai. Is liye kuch bhi ho jaye, kabhi sood ka rasta na chunein. Jab log sood lena chor dein ge to dene walon ka kaam waise hi tabah ho jaye ga. Is liye khud ko badlein, Allah aur Is ke Mehboob ﷺ ke kareeb ho jayein. Is liye raham khayein khud par, halal kamayein aur sukoon se rahein.

Barkat Ka Asal Mafhoom

Asal maza us thore maal mein hai jis mein Allah ki raza shamil ho. Wo barkat hi hai jo kam paise mein bhi mahal jaisa sukoon de deti hai, aur barkat na ho to karoron rupaye bhi dukh aur be-chaini ka sabab bante hain.

Ahad-e-Wafa: Halal Rizq Ki Taraf Qadam

Aaiye, aaj se hi ahad karein ke hum apne rizq ko paak rakhenge. Mushkilat aayengi, magar yaad rakhein ke jo Allah ke liye kisi haram raste ko chorta hai, Allah us ke liye wahan se raste nikalta hai jahan se uska guman bhi nahi hota. Apni duniya bhi sanwarein aur apni aakhirat bhi. Halal kamayein, sukoon payein.

A Message From My Heart

The Two Paths of Life

Life is very short, and there are only two paths: one that provides temporary, outward ease but robs you of peace, and the other that may seem difficult at first but leads to eternal success.

The Promise of Sustenance and the Test of Faith

In the race to accumulate wealth, we often forget that the One who created us is the same One who promised our sustenance (Rizq). Interest (Sood) is not just a financial transaction; it is a test of our humanity, our compassion, and our faith. When we walk the path of interest, we aren't just increasing a bank balance; we are declaring war against the Merciful Lord and His Beloved Messenger ﷺ, who bestowed everything upon us.

War Against the Creator is Impossible

Think for a moment! Can a tiny speck fight the vast ocean? Can any creation defeat its Creator? Absolutely not.

Exploiting Necessity and the Trap of Debt

I also want to mention that interest is most commonly taken on loans. People seek loans, and others exploit their desperation, which is an even greater sin. However, I want to say something to those who seek loans: it is better not to take a debt at all, but if a dire necessity arises, why turn to people first?

The Only True Helper is Allah

First and foremost, remember your Lord and His Beloved Messenger ﷺ, and seek help and companionship from them. No one can provide support or help like Allah and His Beloved Messenger ﷺ. When Allah Himself has stated in the Quran, "Ask of Me, and I shall give to you," then why wander from door to door? O brother! When we have our Allah and His Beloved Messenger ﷺ, why should we worry? Simply spread your prayer mat in times of difficulty or need, go into prostration (Sajdah), and weep before Allah in prayer—then witness how Divine help arrives.

Steadfastness and Avoiding Usurers

If you ever find yourself needing a loan due to a trial or any reason, take it only from those who do not deal in interest. Even if it feels like a life-and-death situation, do not take a loan from those who charge interest. Usually, when intentions are pure, such a time never comes, but if it does, that is the very trial. Allah temporarily closes all doors to see what His servant does—how hard they try and whether they choose the wrong path or the straight one.

Courage, Guidance, and the Fear of the Hereafter

Remember, no matter the difficulty, Allah never abandons you, nor does He burden a soul beyond its capacity. Therefore, no matter what happens, never choose the path of interest. When people stop taking interest-based loans, the business of those who deal in it will naturally perish. Change yourself and draw closer to Allah and His Beloved Messenger ﷺ. Do not commit such injustice and cruelty against yourself! We cannot bear the tiny flame of a matchstick; God forbid, how could we ever bear the fire of Hell? So, have mercy on yourself, earn Halal, and live in peace.

The True Meaning of Blessings (Barakah)

True enjoyment lies in that small amount of wealth that carries the pleasure of Allah. It is Barakah (blessing) that provides palace-like peace in a modest income, whereas without it, even millions of dollars become a source of grief and restlessness.

A Covenant of Loyalty: Stepping Toward Halal Rizq

Come, let us pledge today to keep our sustenance pure. Difficulties will come, but remember: for the one who abandons a forbidden path for the sake of Allah, Allah creates ways for them from places they could never imagine. Adorn both your world and your Hereafter. Earn Halal, and find true peace.

Closing Message

Aakhri Baat...

Umeed hai ke aaj ki ye tehreer aap ke dil ke kisi konay mein hidayat ki shama roshan karne ka sabab banay gi. Yaad rakhein, hum sab yahan ek imtihan ke liye aaye hain aur hamara asal sarmaya hamara Imaan aur Halal Rizq hai. Mushkilat aati jati rehti hain, magar Allah par tawakkul aur Us ki raza mein raazi rehna hi asli kamyabi hai.
Dekha jaye to aaj ke time par har insan pareshan aur mushkilo mein hai, us ki sab sa bari wajah ye hi hai ke hum haram khate hain aur logo par reham nahi karte hain. To is liye khud ko badliye aur galat kaamo se nikaliye.
Allah Pak hum sab ko sood jaisi lanat se bachne, halal kamane aur dusron ke liye asaniya paida karne ki taufiq ata farmaye. Ameen!

Final Thoughts...

I hope today’s writing serves as a source of guidance and lights a spark of reflection in a corner of your heart. Remember, we are all here for a test, and our true assets are our Faith and Halal Sustenance. Hardships come and go, but true success lies in having complete trust in Allah and being content with His will.
If we look around today, every person seems distressed and overwhelmed by difficulties. A major reason for this is that we consume what is forbidden (Haram) and show no mercy to others. When we live in disobedience to Allah, such consequences are inevitable. Therefore, it is time to change ourselves and distance ourselves from these wrongdoings.
May Allah grant us all the strength to stay away from the curse of interest, the ability to earn rightfully, and the heart to create ease for others. Ameen!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Kya sood (interest) sirf bank ke len-den tak mehdood hai?
Nahi, sood har us izafi raqam ko kehte hain jo kisi majboori ya qarz ke badle li jaye. Isme private len-den aur committees ke kuch ghalat tareeqe bhi shamil ho sakte hain.
Q2: Agar kisi ne ghalti se sood liya ho to uski tauba ka kya tareeqa hai?
Sab se pehle foran us kaam ko chor dena chahiye, Allah aur Uske Rasool ﷺ se sachi maafi mangni chahiye aur ye ahad karna chahiye ke dobara kabhi is ghaliz kaam mein shamil nahi honge.
Q3: What is the main difference between Trade and Interest?
Trade involves labor, investment, and the risk of both profit and loss. Interest, however, is a guaranteed extra amount taken from a borrower without any risk or effort from the lender.
Q4: Why does interest lead to social destruction?
It promotes greed and selfishness. Instead of helping those in need with compassion, it exploits their poverty, leading to a massive gap between the rich and the poor.
Q5: How can I purify my wealth from Haram earnings?
The best way is to switch to Halal sources of income immediately. Give away any previous interest-based earnings to charity (without expecting a spiritual reward) and focus on earning through honest hard work.
